This page provides tools to assist local authorities with the Local Air Quality Review and Assessment process.  These include tools to assist with assessment of air quality – including:

  • NOx/NO2 calculator
  • Emissions Factor Toolkit for road transport
  • Diffusion tubes related tools (bias and precision)
  • Volatile correction model (VCM) for TEOM based PM10 monitoring data
  • Background maps
  • monitoring data tools including NO2 distance calculator 
  • emissions (including industrial nomograms and biomass calculator, and
  • modelling (including DMRB).

    • Tools can be found using the menus on the left hand side, or alternatively a list of tools (PDF 307KB, updated February 2012) is now available to download.  However, it is important to check this website regularly for updated tools or ask the Helpdesk if you are unsure.

    The tools are available to download in a variety of file formats although mainly in PDF and Excel formats. Some basic information about how to download files is available from the Defra help pages.

    Some of the tools contain macros and some users of MS Excel may need to alter their "macro security settings" to get these tools to run.
