Automatic Data Processing Tool

Overview

This Automatic Data Processing Tool has been developed to assist local authorities in processing their NO2, PM10 and PM2.5 automatic monitoring data.

This serves to streamline the data processing requirements of NO2, PM10 and PM2.5 automatic monitoring data and improve the quality assurance associated with automatic monitoring data processing. Through alignment of the output result tables with the annual reporting template requirements, the tool facilitates ease of population of the associated annual reporting data tables.

In addition, it provides an output table which can be directly uploaded into the LAQM Portal via the new Automatic Monitoring Data Entry System (ADES), which is part of the annual submission requirements for English local authorities (including London) and Wales.

Please note that this tool cannot be used to process SO2 data. However, users can input SO2 data manually into the ‘SO2 Tables’ tab within the tool to facilitate a complete upload of automatic monitoring data.

Details

The tool includes steps to assist with:

  1. Annualisation – the process of estimating annual mean NO2, PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations when data capture for the year is below 75%.
  2. Calculation of the Annual Mean Concentration.
  3. Calculation of the number of exceedances of relevant annual, 24-hour or 1-hour mean Air Quality Objectives.
  4. Identification of potential anomalous results which may indicate that data recalibration is required.

Version 1.0.1 fixed a data showing issue in Tab – PM2.5 Tables for annual mean PM2.5 monitoring results.
