What do I do if my diffusion tube data does not look correct?
Local authorities who carry out diffusion tube monitoring for the LAQM regime should review their results at the earliest opportunity following receipt from the laboratory.
Where potentially anomalous results are identified, the local authority should contact their laboratory provider directly, as soon as practically possible, regarding any concerns or queries.
This will allow the laboratory to review any trends and identify the need for further investigation. This is best undertaken as soon as possible after they have sent the data.
For further guidance on reducing diffusion tube data loss and identifying outliers, please refer to FAQ 144 – Limitations of monitoring using a single diffusion tube.
