Measures - Smarter choices

Smarter choices refers to the sustainable travel modes that reduce the negative impacts of travel such as congestion, pollutant and carbon emissions, and low activity levels. They aim to influence travel choice, encourage public transport, cycling, walking and also by providing the right information to enable travel choice. They include initiatives like travel planning, personalised travel planning, travel awareness campaigns, car clubs and car sharing and teleworking.

In 2005, the DfT produced guidance on smarter choices (opens in new window).
